AMD second quarter 2020 earnings report bolsters notion work from home theme has legs. In a story titled “AMD Reported Earnings. Why the Stock Is Soaring Nearly 10%“, Max Cherney quotes Lisa Su, CEO:

“...we are raising our full-year revenue outlook as we enter our next phase of growth driven by the acceleration of our business in multiple markets

Keep in mind most of AMD’s business is based on consumer tech – notebook computers & game consoles. If AMD management is confident about business over the final two quarters of this year, then plan on better than expected sales of consumer tech items.  It also makes sense to plan on people still working from home by the time Christmas arrives this year.

Anyone who listened to Microsoft’s second quarter 2020 earnings report last week would have come away with a different notion. AMD second quarter 2020 earnings report points to a split in consumer and business markets for computers and software.
